Personalizing jewelry: I need your stories

Personalize. When we customize a dress, a house, a dish… well, it’s pretty clear to us what it means to customize something or how to do it. Everyone brings some learning from their mothers, grandparents, friends…from magazines, let’s say, now especially from the internet. Then we add something of our own and the game is on: the object or environment matches our tastes.

Personalizing jewelry, Ordering a personalized jewelry requires delegating someone to do it for you. I try to put myself in the shoes of the boyfriend who comes to my studio and wants to give his/her beloved a personalized engagement ring. Who knows how many questions are running through your head: it’s not easy to put ideas into action. And sometimes the concern of finding what your girlfriend really likes can be overwhelming.

Speaking of the internet… If you go to look up the meaning of PERSONALIZE, you’ll find these two entries:

– Modify objects or services so that they suit the specific needs of the users or reflect their tastes
– Addressing a general problem based on an interest, a personal perspective

Here, beyond the fact that I actually make a jewel because you want it to be like that, as indicated by the first entry, I think a lot of my work is also about being able to listen. (and then transform them into matter) your perspective (voice 2), your symbols, your images, your experiences…the dreams of life.
In short…Tell me who you are, what you do, how you imagine your life together, your hobbies, your passions… to customize a ring I need to let myself be swept away by all this. It's not a jewel that I create alone; we create it together.

For me it’s a bit like being transported into your world!
