The true color of White Gold and the rhodium plating

Share the love:

We all associate a certain image with white gold… In our minds, we recreate a material that is highly polished and has a cold color similar to silver. This image is a reflection of what we are accustomed to seeing in the windows of department stores or in the stores of major brands. But who among you knows the true color of white gold?

White gold maintains the warm color inherent in the alloy’Pure gold, A slightly golden color. Such a particular coloration should be enhanced and not destroyed by the process of rhodium plating, which deprives this unique and singular color of its poetry, comparing it to the typical tones of silver!
The rolling is a galvanic process which deposits rhodium on a metal, such as white gold, silver, palladium or platinum, using a continuous electric current. This allows the seams to be covered, which result in a slightly different color, and the imperfections of the jewelry, making it shiny and of uniform color.

This electrolytic bath is used mainly by industry and by large companies that produce enormous quantities of series accessories. In fact, I believe that this finish removes the minor defects of a handmade piece making it equal to so many other jewels, A Rhodium-plated ring does not evoke the same emotion as a handmade ring that shines with its natural golden color.

My handmade jewelry is unique because they also have unique imperfections…
