Among the many existing ways to leave romantic visible signs of your love story, apart from the graffiti on the walls (which are not allowed anyway…), the most precious one concerns engagement rings with dedications. If you have ever thought about rings with engraved designs that speak of you, or two rings with hand-engraved dedications, you are in the right place!
I have already created engagement rings. Of course, they were engagement rings. The dedications and the words that can be written there are endless., It all depends on the surface area of the ring available. On one pair of wedding rings I wrote «Forever»; or even «Towards infinity…» on one, and «…and beyond» on the other.
Within wedding rings, tradition dictates that the couple’s names be written first, followed by the date; but when it comes to personalized rings with engravings, there are no rules. By hand I reproduced numbers, dates, letters, even numbers that seemed to be other numbers. A «5» that looked like a «6» because the date of the engagement was unclear, but just before midnight... The difference in rings with a personalized inscription can sometimes be just a groove in the metal!
Why choose rings with an internal engraving? Why? Lovers want to imprint a message on the metal and communicate it to the world. Some couples choose not to put their names on the rings, but have their initials engraved on the inside or outside. combinations can be truly endless In this case, I can find multiple combinations of letters, Diagonal orientations or different divisions between the two rings, so that the initials are readable by overlapping the two bands. A kind of interlocking game in practice. The hand engraving is done with a tool called a bulino, which is a kind of small steel chisel. The engraver has dozens of bulinos with different points.
One of the most beautiful phrases that made me engrave on two wedding rings was: «Fino alla fine del mondo», written in Portuguese (Read the story hereBesides letters and phrases, however, I also engraved Roman numerals of the day o of the year of the wedding, or simply an external decoration on a ring (of flowers or a twisted vine branch). The engraving thus becomes a texture that makes your ring unique in the world.
